RMIT University Professor Marc Cohen has praised the Commonwealth Government's $4 million investment to establish the first National Institute of Complementary Medicine.

Professor Cohen, who is President of the Australasian Integrative Medicine Association (AIMA), said that while the institute would have an administrative hub at the University of Western Sydney (UWS) it would be a virtual institute that linked existing complementary medicine researchers, including those at RMIT.

"This is an important initiative as complementary medicines have a great deal to offer the Australian community, including effective treatments that are safe and cost-effective," said Professor Cohen.
