Dr Col Gellatly AO (Chair)

Dr Gellatly finished a long and distinguished career in the NSW Public Sector in May 2007. His final position was Director General of the Dept of Premier & Cabinet. Col had been a CEO for 18 years including time as Director General of Premiers Dept (serving 3 Premiers), Director General of the Dept of Land & Water Conservation, and Director General of the Dept of Industrial Relations, Employment, Training & Further Education. Col's early career was as an Agricultural Economist, before becoming involved in senior management in the NSW Dept of Agriculture (where he worked for 19 years). His contribution to the public sector has been recognised nationally when he was made a Fellow of the Institute of Public Administration of Australia in 1997 and a Fellow of the Australian New Zealand Graduate School of Government in 2007. Col is currently involved in a variety of roles in both the public & private sectors as a consultant, advisor and Board member. He is currently Chair of the Redfern Waterloo Authority, Chair of Pillar Corporation (super administration), and a member of the State Water Board. He is a member of the Council of the University of New England and a member of the UNE Foundation. He recently chaired the NSW Government's Ethanol Taskforce and the NSW Government's Rural and Regional Taskforce.

Professor John Funder AO

Professor Funder is an MD PhD who has spent over 40 years in the laboratory doing cardiovascular endocrinology. He has published over 500 papers and made contributions to research governance and funding across a broad range of fields. He was Director of the Baker Institute for 11 years, chaired the Victorian Health Promotion Foundation for seven years, and is currently Director of Research Strategy for Southern Health at Monash Medical Centre.  In addition to an active and ongoing research program he currently consults widely in the academic, philanthropic, corporate and government sectors.

Ms Julie Hamblin

Ms Hamblin is a partner in the health law group of HWL Ebsworth, working in their Sydney office.  She has worked with the health sector for over twenty years advising on health law and policy, clinical risk and the defence of medical negligence claims against hospitals and health professionals. She has held numerous government appointments in the health sector, including the board of the former Central Sydney Area Health Service, the Australian National Council on AIDS and Related Diseases, and the NSW Government's Bioethics Advisory Committee. She has a particular interest in the legal and ethical framework for medical research and has served on many Human Research Ethics Committees.  In addition to her legal practice, Julie works as a consultant to the United Nations Development Programme and other international organisations and NGOs on legal and human rights dimensions of HIV policy.

Ms Rhonda Hawkins

Ms Rhonda Hawkins is the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Corporate Strategy and Services) at the University of Western Sydney (UWS).  She is the Secretary to the University's Board of Trustees and leads the Division of Corporate Strategy and Services which comprises Human Resources; Student and Academic Administration; Student Support Services; Marketing; Media and Communication; Strategic Planning and Quality Management; Management Information; Professional Development; Records and Archive Management; Policy and Governance; Office of University Legal Counsel; Audit and Risk Management; Equity and Diversity; and including support of the Board of Trustees and Board Committees and Executive/Senior Management Committees.
Rhonda has a Bachelor of Science (BSc) from the University of Sydney, and a Master of Public Policy (MPP) also from the University of Sydney. She is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (FAICD) and a member of the NSW Council of the AICD.

Mr Bill Moss AM

Mr Moss has been a senior executive within the finance industry in Australia and globally over the past 30 years. He has extensive experience in the field of real estate, banking, funds management and advisory services, corporate finance and tourism and leisure.  He retired as Group Head and Managing Director of the Banking and Property Group within Macquarie Group in 2007 having created this global business  23 years earlier. He was a member of Macquarie's Executive Committee for the last 10 years. On his departure he left a business employing over 1200 staff with offices in nine countries and in excess of 24 billion dollars of funds under management.  In 2007 Macquarie was voted No 1 Investment Manager in Asia, Australia, China, Honk Kong, Singapore and USA in Euromoney Liquid Real Estate Awards.  In 2006 Bill was awarded the Order of Australia for Services to the Finance industry and philanthropy.  Major achievements include the establishment of - Macquarie Banks Real Estate Advisory Business, its seven listed and numerous unlisted Property Trusts; Macquarie Mortgage Securitisation; Macquarie Tourism and Leisure; Medallist Golf Developments (a partnership with Greg Norman) and Lime Taxis (Australia's first specific taxi service for people with disabilities).

Professor Kerryn Phelps

Professor Phelps is Adjunct Professor at Sydney University in the Faculty of Medicine in the Schools of Public Health and General Practice. Professor Phelps has been a familiar face to many Australians over the last 25 years during which time she has appeared regularly on television, radio and the print media informing the Australian public on health issues.  She is extremely involved in Integrative health and is on the Advisory Board of the Australian Integrative Medicine Association.  Aside from practising as a General Practitioner in Sydney, Professor Phelps also lectures at Sydney University, is a Consultant to various Corporations and Associations and sits on several boards. She has recently established a state of the art multi disciplinary health clinic in Sydney's Surry Hills, the Uclinic.  In May 2000, after a year in the position of President of the AMA in NSW, Kerryn was elected Federal President of the Australian Medical Association, becoming the first woman to head this organisation and serving a maximum term of three years.  During her time as AMA President she worked with Federal and State governments to find a resolution to the Medical Indemnity crisis that was threatening the medical profession and was instrumental in changing the government's approach to the Australian medical workforce.  Kerryn is currently the health writer for the Australian Women's Weekly and writes political commentary for Medical Observer Magazine. She is a regular commentator on general practice, public health, medical politics and human rights issues. In 2003 she was awarded the Centenary Medal for services to Health and Medicine.
