The Council contributes to and promotes the objectives, strategic directions and successful outcomes of NICM activities, and in particular:
a) Informs the medium and long term goals of the Institute.
b) Monitors business performance, and provides strategic advice and direction to the Executive Director and General Manager on business, operational, communication and project plans and priorities.
c) Provides advice on the NICM budget to ensure it is effectively directed towards the attainment of the Institute's objectives.
d) Provides comment on NICM reports and position papers prior to their release.
e) Identifies and supports growth opportunities for the complementary medicine research sector, particularly initiatives building the quantum and excellence of research; enhancing skill development, and translation of outcomes to practice and policy.
f) Provides advice to UWS through the Audit and Risk Committee, on senior office performance and review.
